Gemma’s favourite craft workshops in South Wales

Rooftop Atelier

Located in Barry, Rooftop Atelier is owned by Angharad, a trained costume maker and milliner with twenty years experience working in the costume industry who knows her style. The school provides sewing classes ranging from corsetry to costume making, but of course, students are welcome to use their class time for their own projects. After having spent the day at the sewing school, Gemma can 100% ensure its good value. So, whether you are a beginner or someone who already knows their stitches, it would be great if you join Angharad and other specialist tutors at Rooftop Atelier.

Peggy’s Pots

Ran by the lovely couple Meg and Simon, Peggy’s Pots is a shipping container studio located at Boneyard in Canton. While Meg’s passions are colour and clay, Simon loves to work with materials and textures. So why not pre-book, walk-in or host a party at their studio with your family, friends and/or loved ones and have a fun time painting pottery pieces, moulding clay pieces, or pot-throwing on the wheel!

Cardiff Pottery Workshops

Located in Llandough, Penarth, the studio offers all the equipment you might need for your hand building and throwing classes. Gemma has been on several courses and has always had good chats with Kelly, the founder. Thanks to their location, they have spacious facilities.

When you visit them be prepared for the hustle and bustle of the studio life surrounded by whirling wheels, the slapping of clay, kettle boiling, and great chats with the team and others!

The home of unique handmade children’s clothes, Pig & Pip’s owner, the lovely Hayley whom Gemma has had a good chat with on IG, takes inspiration from her two boys to create clothes. She not only enjoys sewing, selling quality clothing for the little ones but also has a passion for teaching. At her workshop, she hosts 1:1 sessions, children’s sewing groups, adult workshops, and parties.
