From experience, I know how easy it can be to lose focus, go off the creative ‘boil’, lack motivation or search in vain for inspiration from time-to-time when you work on your own. For some time now I’ve wanted to create a relaxed space in Cardiff for calligraphers and those with an interest in lettering to be able to meet regularly.

Wouldn’t it be great to be among others with similar interests for a couple of hours every month? Even us introverts need the energy of mingling with other humans before retreating once again!

You might be a beginner in need of encouragement… an experienced artist looking for others to bounce ideas off… somebody new to the city… an artist who craves the company of artistically-minded folk or a serious hobbyist who wants that quiet ‘me’ time now and again to fully enjoy a form of expression you get only from nibs and ink and paper…

You’ll need a basic understanding and ability in at least one hand/ script/ style learned on a workshop run by INKRDBL or similar as I won’t be providing tutoring on practice nights. However, by being there, among others of a like mind, it is my hope that as individuals our love and knowledge of calligraphy will grow as we share, encourage, explore and advise each other.

Bring whatever you are working on and settle in. You might be looking forward to some quiet time with a cuppa and your current project, or you might want to run some ideas by your peers and have a good old chinwag!

The inaugural Cardiff Calligraphy Club practice night on October 11th was a success but we can handle more peeps – reserve your place now! There will be cake. And calligraphy!
