Over 2 structured days we will we guide your child through a series of activities to develop their craft & enterprise skills.
On day 1 - 14th August - 10am - 4pm - we will start with a short presentation on how Lark started and the things that have gone well and not so well since opening 5 years ago!
We will then demonstrate the 2 craft areas they can choose to create a business from (they will be from our popular range of workshops such as candles, soaps, jesmonite, sewing, crochet, polymer clay, macrame etc) We will keep the 2 craft areas a secret until they arrive so they have to come up with fresh ideas ;-)
After a demonstration of the 2 crafts available and with the help of the tutors, they will they get some time to brainstorm what unique product idea they want to develop and sell. Once they have the start of an idea it will be time to come up with a logo & business overview, including which charity the sales of their products will support. There will be time for them to use their laptop and those with phones can use them to do research and create a professional logo or it can be created by hand.
After lunch they will they will be given information about costing their products (e.g. 1 kilo of jesmonite = £15, 1 metre of fabric = £12, Minimum wage = £10 p/h etc..) this needs to inform their design manufacture.
During the afternoon they will make prototypes for their design, trying out colours, processes, materials etc and by the end of the day they should have a clear idea of what needs to be done on Day 2.
Their homework will be to find out a little more about their chosen charity.
Day 2 - 15th August - 10am-4pm - Before we get making each child will start the day by presenting their chosen charity to the other children.
We will then start making and will be looking to create around 10 pieces ready for the 3pm market. For the market they will also need to present their stall area with their logo, prices and info about their charity.
At the end of the 2nd day we will hold a mini market for the attendees to showcase the makes to family, lark customers and we’re hoping to get some local businesses to pop by to give feedback. All proceeds from sales will be donated to your child's chosen charity
They will need packed lunch for both days.
All materials, squash and biscuits at break time included.
