Crochet a Temperature Blanket (or snake!!)

  • Lark Design Make Studio, Cardiff (map)

I’ve been talking about this for ages and have finally sorted everything I need to make it happen!

Join myself, Sarah of @sjandgray and Jane of @serendipity_stitcher for an evening of fun as we’ll be introducing making a temperature blanket with you..

(Jane has made the blanket shown in the pictures - such a lush colour scheme!)

A temperature blanket is a way of recording the temperature by crocheting a row of a blanket each day for a full calendar year, the colors used each day correspond with the temperature outside, you can choose your scale which means you can choose how many colours and what shades you want. You an do 2024 or we can show you how to best download info from another year. If you want to make the blanket it will need to be made in DK yarn or it ends up being out of proportion, there are also other options like making a scarf or snake, we’ll talk you through all the options ;-)

We’ll create a Facebook group so you can support each other throughout the year and also invite you to join our crafty catch up sessions which happen a few times a month so you can connect and catch up on your makes.

You will be given a printed instruction booklet, a plywood temperature guide courtesy of Mike (a husband of a regular customer ;-), access to tutorial videos and the Facebook support and motivation group! We also offer a border/tassel session later in the year so you can complete your blanket in style.

It is suitable for those fairly new to crochet or those who want to try something new (you will have to be able to able to do a chain and at least one stitch already to join)

Please note the workshop cost does not include the wool/yarn, you will be shown examples of suitable wool from HobbyCraft/Online etc and we have a small selection of brightly coloured DK yarns at just £2 a ball. You can chosen wool as you will be practicing on our wool during session 1. (The material will cost from £20 upwards for the whole blanket)

Refreshments included during all the sessions.
