Join Gemma for an introduction to using a cut-pile electric tufting gun to create a rug!

Please book your chosen date for session 1, Gemma will then host a couple of proper taught sessions for part 2 (dates and times below) or you can come in at another time (these will be when Gemma is teaching another workshop, which is around 8 times a week, you would therefore get some help from her but would also be sent an easy to follow video with the steps so you can work independently when she is busy with her workshop - it is really easy and you could easily finish a friends off too if they are unable to attend session 2) Whichever you decide can be discussed at your part 1.

Taught session 2 options -

Saturday 26th October 10.30am-12pm

or after half term on

Wednesday 6th November - 6.30-8pm

Thursday 7th November - 11.30- 1pm

You will need to come with a rug design idea, it is important to note that tufting is easiest when done standing up and requires holding the 1kg tufting gun for long periods - so it is a great workout craft but might not be comfortable for all.

Upon booking you will receive a detailed email with a lots of links to inspirational rug designs and lots of top tips, you can send us your idea in advance if you want to check its suitability.

At the studio we have a choice of over 50 colours of yarn which can be selected on the day.

Session 1 - will be a busy 3-3.5hrs, you need to complete your full rug and then apply latex at the back of your rug which will then be left to dry for at least 12 hours.

Session 2 - will be a relaxed 90mins, during this session you will be shaving your design, cutting it from the frame and applying a felt backing so it s ready to use!
